Stephen, from his own personal experience, believes that the Hauser II guitars are exceptional instruments. The opportunity, presented by Miles Roberts, was siezed to replicate this particular one being number 660 in the Hauser II production. From the many Hauser family guitars Kent Guitar Classics traded over the years, prior to retirement, this was a stand out favourite and represents a truly golden age of the Hauser dynasty. The original remains in private ownership. After many hours of measurement; intimate inspection provided invaluable knowledge revealing what is likely key to the highly desirable Hauser sound. Without this opportunity to survey the original, with the eyes of an experienced luthier, many of the nuances and subtleties would have otherwise been missed.
The design of the guitar allows for a much thicker top in comparison to many of the spanish made guitars; yet which still produces a deep bass. What enables this is the result of the unique and skilled construction methods. Observations have been that one of the advantages of a thick top is that the trebles can be stronger and more colourful. The opening up period of this special model can take longer than usual. For both luthier and guitarist this is an exciting journey. It just keeps getting better! The meticulous replications have feel and sound truly reflecting the original; providing the player with the expected Hauser depth of bass with a very clear, flexible, sweet treble. This guitar is capable of a wide ranging tonal pallete; making it a highly desirable instrument well suited to a player with a wide ranging repetoire.
